April promises to be an extremely busy month for children in the public schools. Watch for class newsletters, and notices in the paper; stay in touch with your child’s teacher: and quiz your children about upcoming events when they get home each day to avoid missing anything important.
• Last Thursday several students from Rappahannock County Public Schools competed in The Piedmont Regional Science Fair in Charlottesville. We are extremely proud of the following students who represented our schools so well in this event: Jesse Palmer, Tristan Sonnett, Lisa Maloney, Josh Makela, Clay Vickers, Jenkins Dove, Laura Wheatley, Baillee Batchelor, Patrick Treanor, Emily Raney, Joe Rechin, Elaine Smith, Holly Long, Sean Robertson, and Eston Davis.
Of these 15 students. 10 of them (two-thirds!) came home with awards, and some with multiple awards!
In the Senior Division, Holly Long won first place in BioChemistry, and also Honorable Mention from the Army for BioChemi^try^ and Physical Science, Sean Robertson won second in Zoology. These students will move on to the State Competition in April.
Elaine Smith received a third place win in Environmental Science and also received two additional awards, one for Innovation and Scientific Excellence in the GeoSciences, and the second place
