At a well-attended meeting on Wednesday night in the high school auditorium, Mr. Jon Smythe, Athletic Director, explained his latest plan for bringing football to Rappahannock County High School.
Mr. Smythe reported that, after the first football forum in February, he consulted with the other six athletic directors in the Bull Run District to get their reaction to his plan to start with a middle school team. The new plan of beginning with a freshman team this fall, comprised of eighth and ninth graders was a result of that feedback. In the current plan, RCHS will add a Junior Varsity team, that would be made up of 9-11th graders in the fall of 2003.
This JV team would be converted to a varsity team in 2004, giving RCHS a total of two school teams: a Freshman Team and a Varsity team.
