• Test and adjust the pH and total alkalinity. Superchlorinate and add cyanuric acid if necessary. Run the pump 24 hours a day during the beginning of the season, when it may be difficult to get the pool water balanced. Pump operating times may be reduced by one-hour increments once the water is in good shape.
• Treat the water with an algaecide. After several hours of operation, test the chlorine level and adjust as needed. If the chlorine level is too high, do not use the pool until it drops to normal levels.
