Remodeling is a very subjective decision, said Carolyn Ann Taylor, an interior designer with Waterford Interior Design and member of ASID.
Taylor has been in the business for 30 years, and she said people decide to remodel anywhere from every five years to never.
Some people are still working on their original decorating plan after five years in a home, said Kelly Stieff, an interior designer with Design Solutions aT/d member of ASID.
Others are ready to remodel at ten years. Some remodeling happens when people can afford things they couldn’t when they first bought the house, like putting down hardwood flooring and changing carpeting. New cabinets and countertops in the kitchen are also popular.
