The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors selected Blue Ridge Appraisal Company of Staunton and Winchester to perform the general reassessment that will become effective Jan. 1, 2003. The company has been performing general reassessments throughout Virginia since 1982.
The Code of Virginia requires localities to reassess all property at 100 percent of Fair Market Value at regular intervals. The last reassessment in Rappahannock was effective January 1998.
Michael A. Didawick, Project Manager for Blue Ridge Appraisal, states the company has completed the market study of real estate sales having occurred within the county over the last several years. The field appraisers began inspecting properties throughout the county this week. Mr. Didaw'ick expects the field inspection of the 6,200 parcels of real estate to be complete in late Fall of 2002.
