combine to create a huge slumber party, full of family fun. All the while, reinforcing the message that today, more and more people are surviving cancer.
Relay for Life is also our way to honor cancer survivors and to remember those we have lost to cancer in the fight. The Relay opens as cancer survivors walk, run, or wheelchair the first lap in celebration of their victory. All cancer survivors in the community are invited to register and attend the Relay.
Cancer survivors may register with Carolyn Leake, the Survivor’s Walk Chairperson at 635-2073. Registration can by made in advance or at the Relay on May 17.
Also, a luminary ceremony is held after dark to honor cancer survivors and to remember those who have lost their battle against cancer. These luminaries line the track to remind participants of loved ones who are being honored or remembered.
This is a community event celebrating cancer survivors and fighting for more of them in the future. A good way to join in the fight against cancer is to join or sponsor a team or generously contribute to a team. Remember, the Relay for Life is a relay without a finish line . . . until we find a cure for cancer.
