The Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance has hired its first executive director to help the grassroots organization continue to realize its mission of preserving the county’s scenic, rural character.
Ashley Adams started as RCCA’s executive director in January. The new position is the latest development in the alliance’s consistent growth since it was founded in 1999 to educate Rappahannock landowners about the benefits of conservation easements.
Adams said RCCA’s board of directors decided last fall to hire an executive director to be more involved in the organization’s development and leadership.
With a staff member at the office daily RCCA is able to forge a greater partnership with the community she said.
“We're trying to go after mare grants and progress, and I think they wanted a higher-level position to be in charge of that,” Adams said.
