Homer remains in coma
after crushing fall at

of Virginia steeplechasing’s leading ladies remains in critical but stable condition in Baltimore’s Maryland Shock Trauma Center with head, neck and back iryuriea Ellen Horner, currently second in the ladies’ timber division, fell with Pack Up Stables’ Thundering Home at Saturdays Grand National races in Butler, Md. She was transported from the course by MedSTAR helicopter, and remained in an induced coma at

Earlier on the card at the April 21 Grand National, Homer had placed sixth in the $35,000 feature aboard Zaratanie. In the next race, die was unseated from King Lear; but was checked out by the course physician as okay to ride in the day’s last race.
