Ree Civil War lecture
Bramly Station Foundation will have the first of a series of Sunday Lectures at the Graffiti House in Brandy Station, VA. The lectures are free and for anyone interested in the history of the U.S. Civil War. The program wiH start at 2:00 p.m. While free, donations are welcomed and wttl be used for operation of the House. April’s speaker will be Ms. Stacy Humphreys of the National Park Service, and her topic witi be ArtMery uses, effect, and importance. Confederate Maj Robert Beckham’s horse artillery was a crucial factor in the June 9, 1863 Battle of Brandy Station. Stacy graduated from West Virginia University with a BA and MS in history with an emphasis on 19th Century U.S. History. She joined the National Park Service in 2000 and is now serving at the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park where she provides tours and special programs to visitors and groups, supervises the Park Visitor's Center, and is the Historical Weapons Supervisor where she specializes in artifery. Everyone is invited to join in creating rhythm and music on Sunday, April 29 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Sage in the Rappahannock Wetiness Center. Group drumming has been praMBn to reduce stress and can help to stimulate coordination, cooperation, and greater listening skills. All ages welcome No experience necessary. Pageant Registration/Rehearsal
Registration takes place at the Rappahannock County Elementary School gymnasium at 2:00 with rehearsal at 2:30. Al pageant participants must register at this time. Registration is $35 per entry in each of 10 categories. Participants must be residents, attend school, or be children of landowners in county. Proceeds benefit Sperryvifle Volunteer Rescue Squad.
