proposes
efficiency review

In the face of rising county criticism of the school budget, Rappahannock County Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Robert Chappell, has requested an efficiency review for the school system. “We think that we have a pretty lean budget this year,” Chappell said at the recent School Board meeting, “but I am sure that there are people that would not agree with that.”
Chappell stated that he bad contacted organizers of the Virginia School Efficiency Review Program, a 'program sponsored by the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget. Participation in the program is voluntary, as the state hires an analyst from the private sector to look at the efficiency of business practices within a school.
Some of the functions of the school that are examined include division administration, human resources, food service, facilities, and transportation costs. The program does not evaluate the effectiveness of the school’s educational curriculum.
