Earth Day Program at RappFLOW Office
There were many goals for the Sunday demonstration project at the Old School House. Many of the goals were met, including signing up at least six folks who came specifically to inquire about the Riparian Buffer Project. Each new potential participant in the program owns land either along the Thornton River or in Old Hollow. Each person will have a site review with Mark Malik and Tim Bondelid for recommendations on what to do to improve the river bank...and that is just the beginning of support. Sunday also saw macro invertebrate training, “Stream Tables” to demonstrate the value of deep roots for capturing storm water, dissemination of information and free compact fluorescent light bulbs to substitute for energyhogging incandescent, and much more. Jonathan Partin donated many of the plants for the flower garden. His business is Welsh Gardens in Warrenton, 540-522-7120. Again, it was a wonderful Sunday in Sperryville. Thanks to all the folks who made this Earth Day celebration a reality.
