involved with racing until her college years when she took a job galloping at a Clarke County farm. She soon uncovered a latent passion for racing and ended up detouring away from a career in sports medicine and exercise physiology to throw herself into steeplechasTm

Sheppard happens to be a* living legend on the flat and in steeplechase circles. The alltime leading trainer, with career earnings in excess af $15 million since 1966, has earned 22 NSA champion trainer titles. The English native trains more than 100 horses in several locations from his Ashwell Farm in Pennsylvania to Gulfstream Park in Florida, where Hodsdon started galloping for the Hall of Fame trainer.
Soon after she started the demanding full-time job, Hodsdon learned that one of Sheppards key exercise riders at his Camden, S.C. training center had been injured in a foil and would be out for a few weeks. Hodsdon offered to help out The rest was history
