Ryan recently broke another record — that of Middleburg’s most eligible bachelor — when he asked Olympic bronze medalist Linden Wiesman to wed. She accepted and now wears a pretty bung sapphire ring.
“Linden is a much better rider than me,” admitted Ryan. “She’s learning to whip in to my pack of hounds and ifs fun to share the same interests and do things together.”
Ryan even took up three-day eventing, Wiesman’s equestrian sport of choice. He was sixth at the Middleburg Horse Trials — in the novice rider division. “I was more nervous about the dressage. I joke to my racing friends that Tm going to send them a slow morion video of my dressage test set to Chariots of Fire.”
How does a significant other factor into the racing?
“There’s always risk (far professional riders and amateurs),* said Ryan. “Stupid men don’t have a sense of self-preservation: when you’re young and you think you’re invincible.
Wiesman raced a few times on the fiat aboard Ryan’s horses. “It was new and different and fun,” she said, but she doesn't see herself getting into it seriously She met Ryan in January 2005 while they were both hunting with the limerick Harriers in Ireland.
