April 28: Sixth Annual
Rappahannock Spring plant sale
For the sixth year, local and nearby growers will be gathering at Waterpenny Farm in Sperryville, Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale will offer shopping for annual, perennial, herb, and vegetable plants as well as vines, shrubs, trees and decorations for the garden. Returning this year is Blue Ridge Botanicals, growers of herbs, perennials and flowering vines. Eastwoods Nurseries returns, with Japanese maples and select conifers. Enchanter's Gardens is back with native herbaceous and woody plants. Momingside Farm & Nursery will have a selection of annual and perennial plants. Persimmon Springs Nursery with shrubs and small trees. Quail Spring Farm selling plants for garden landscape, also returning Straw Into Gold, offering onions, wheat weavings, and willow trellises. A new vendor this year is Green Pieces selling hand-built rustic furniture, structures and other objects for garden decoration. Rae’s of Sperryville will be the food vendor this year with coffee and breakfast treats and sandwiches and drinks. A special guest vendor will be the students from the Rappahannock High School Farm-2-Tabte project selling plants they have grown. The host of this annual event, Waterpenny Farm will be selling vegetable, herb and flower starts. Proceeds from the vendor fees will go to Waterpenny Farm’s low-income share program through the Capital Area Food Bank. Waterpenny Farm is located on Route 211, east of Sperryville. April 29: Tax Credit Seminar
Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA) is sponsoring a seminar on the purchase and sale of Virginia Tax Credits on Sunday, April 29, from 3-5 p.m. at the Washington Town Hall on 485 Gay Street. Anyone who pays Virginia taxes can lower their taxes by purchasing credits from landowners who have donated easements. A panel of experts will explain the process from both a buyer and seller perspective. For further information, contact the RCCA office at 540-987-8268.
