Old Dominion

Hounds trail

series

The Old Dominion Hounds will host a series of spring trail rides starting this Saturday, April 28, at the dub’s old hunter trial field in Orlean. Other rides are: May 12 at Windrush in Flint Hill, May 19 at the Marriott Ranch (park across from Valhalla Harm) in Hume, and June 2 at Hunter’s Best in Flint Hill. All rides begin at 10 a.m. and include a single “walking-only” group, making them particularly good for young horses. The cost is $20 per adult, $10 for kids under 12. A picnic follows each ride. Details are at (540) 364-3995.

Gold Cup

party planned

The upcoming Virginia Gold Cup will be celebrated at a party Friday, May 4, sponsored by the race association. In addition to a silent auction, raffle tickets will be sold for horses entered in the Gold Cup, and at the end of the night, winning “owners’ will be drawn. Proceeds pay the next day, May 5 (after the Gold Cup) to owners of the first three finishers.

The party is being held at Blue Ridge Hardware on Main Street in Warrenton at 7 p.m. The Black Cat Blues Band will provide entertainment.

Tickets are $75 per person or $ 125 per couple, with proceeds to benefit the Fauquier Free Clinic.

Ticket information is at (540) 428-3610.
