I sit here, staring at this keyboard and computer screen, trying to make some words come that will speak to the horrible tragedy that occurred at Virginia Tech. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. They will remain in my prayers. It has often seemed to me that Tech is our local university, because of the agricultural nature of our surroundings here in Rappahannock, and Tech’s focus on related academic areas.
There is a huge conflict between this country’s desire to be a free and open society, and the willingness of a single individual to give his life to cause murder and mayhem for some reason, real or imagined. We have seen this repeatedly in the
