I am writing an open letter to the School Board and Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County concerning the proposed school budget.
After reading several issues of the Rappahannock News, the on-line Rapp Voice, and now the flyers that have been placed in the local stores, I am really having serious questions about the whole make up of the budget.
Do we use zero or baseline budgeting?
Can we combine positions? If not, why not? Will you be prepared to show the public on April 30th from the Virginia Code? If a Virginia high school with 1,000 students or more can have a principal and asst, principal, why can’t a small system like Rappahannock County totaling 995 students or less share these positions between two schools?
Why cannot class sizes be combined to resemble class sizes in neighboring counties?
