Just think - most of you
who are reading this are doing so thanks to a free public education, one of the founding tenets of this country.
So, what’s happened? When I grew up, my parents, and I thought all parents, wanted better for kids than what they had had. Now you hear at budget hearings that “Rappahannock was good enough for me, it’s good enough for my kid.”
For one thing, is “good enough” adequate? Wouldn’t, shouldn’t you want more? Secondly, I believe that the world has made some major changes in the last, say, 20 years - or two years or two months or perhaps even two minutes. Is what was “good enough” 20 years ago enough to get this generation through?
