Rappahannock News Staff Writer f Gov. Tim Kaine has joined with governors from Maryland, Pennsylvania and . West Virginia for a regional partnership to preserve the ecology and culture of the MidAtlantic Appalachian Highlands.
The Highlands Action Pro• gram Charter includes areas in the western part of Virginia, including Rappahannock County, as well as the panhandle of western Maryland, most of Pennsylvania and the entirety of West Virginia.
“The Appalachian High lands region is a unique area, both from a cultural and ecological standpoint,” Kaine said in a press release. It has species and landscapes found nowhere else in the world.”
