One should read this book before making judgments on the merits of Governor Bush and his record. One will see, for example, that though Ms. Ivins gives him good marks on education, his "compassion" is directed, not to the children of Texas, but to the oil companies. Incidentally, some one has remarked that the Republican slate is really diverse this year, in that Governor Bush and Mr. Cheney represent different oil companies.
