Guided tours of Montpelier will start at 2 p.m. with docents taking guests through parts of the 110 foot long mansion. Those on tour will see the mansion s porticoes and colonnade and other architectural treasures, including the restored grand staircase and the old stone-walled kitchen with brick flooring and huge fireplaces on the ground floor.
This is the first time the Montpelier mansion has been open to the public since it was vandalized in May. It belongs to the four daughters of the late James W. "Jim Bill" Fletcher, who was a prominent landowner and lawyer. An estimated $200,000 worth of damage was done to the property which was unoccupied at the time.
