DUI arrest

A Sperryville woman was arrested on Sept. 14 on U. S. 211 near Washington and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Johanna Day, 37, was stopped by Dep. J. C. Welch near Gid Brown Hollow Road at about 8:30 p.m., and charged with the offense.

Pears disappear

The Sheriff s Office received a complaint that approximately 30 bushels of pears — which were still on the trees — were stolen from an orchard in the 12000 block of U. S. 211 near Sperryville.

According to the report filed by Dep. C. M. Currence, evidence included tire tracks from a truck that entered and left the orchard.

The theft was reported at 10:18 a.m. on Sept. 17, and the investigation is continuing.
