Virginia point-to-point circuit leading open rider Simon Hobson was almost preordained to be a steeplechase jockey. Growing up in Doncaster, in the South Yorkshire of England, Hobson's father trained race horses, so the young Hobson was bitten by the bug at an early age.
"I rode my first race over hurdles when I was 16," he said. "And I've been at it ever since."
