Some familiar and some lesser known music from opera will meld with a couple of piano solos in a recital at The Theatre at Washington, Va., to be heard on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m.
Although the program is heavily weighted to the much loved arias of composers such as Mozart, Puccini, and Verdi, unusual interest is anticipated in a work titled "Ambassador of Loss" by the contemporary composer Robert Johnson.
Jacqueline Neimat, a beautiful soprano who is becoming increasingly known in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, performed recently at Strathmore Hall in Maryland, as well as at several embassies in the nation s capital.
Tenor Paul Mcllvaine has sung with The Washington Opera, The Virginia Opera, and The Opera Orchestra of New York. He was tenor soloist in a performance of the Schumann Requiem at Carnegie Hall, and has been a soloist with the Paul Hill Chorale.
Pianist George Peachey is well known to Washington, D.C., audiences for his many performances as collaborative pianist and as a soloist. Among the venues where he has appeared in concert are the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, the Phillips Collection and the Corcoran Gallery. The piano solos which he will play at The Theatre on Sept. 23 are by Mozart and Chopin.
