SEEKS COLGAN REPLACEMENT

A nationwide search has been launched by the National ^ Steeplechase Association for a new chief operating officer to replace respected veteran Charlie Colgan who will leave the post at the end of this year. ‘We will be focusing on candidates with extensive sports marketing, management and communication skills,’ said Nick Arundel, named by the NSA board to head the search. Serving with him on the committee are Steeplechase Owners and Trainers Association president Jack Fisher, and NSA president George Strawbridge. , Colgan, who recently resigned after 24 years of service as NSA executive vice president, will become the first executive director of the five-year-old non-profit National Steeplechase Foundation which works closely with the NSA to further education, amateurism and safety in the sport. Arundel said the ‘nationwide search will seek to identify someone who can significantly ratchet up marketing of % the powerfully colorful and exciting American } steeplechasing sport in the 21st century with television I to a new major league level of popularity.’ He encouraged submissions, suggestions and ideas be sent to the search committee:
