If Pageland's race entry is named after a fish, it's a homebred, farm owner Sara Collette explained.
If not, it's not.
By that rule, Holy Halibut was foaled at the historic old Warrenton farm that dates back to pre-Civil War days and boasts its own ghost. On the other hand, Silent Spiral, a sanctioned steeplechase winner for Pageland and now one of its top broodmares was purchased off the flat track.
Another rule is that once a Pageland homebred is sold on to a new owner and new job description, its name is almost always changed. Holy Halibut was re-christened Charlie Brown. As Charlie Brown, he earned a Maryland Horse Show Association championship and recently placed in a major hunter classic.
