Gold Cup painting, “Riders Up,” is inspired by Virginiaowned and -bred Saluter, a horse who has dazzled thousands of people at Great Meadow for seven years running. Ann Stern’s gelding has won the Virginia Gold Cup six times (from 1994-’99) and the International Gold Cup twice (in 1998 and ’99.)
