rvacing in r,ngiana, liaiy and France, Hobson's travels led him to the United States in 1993, first to Maryland, then to Virginia, where he now resides in Middleburg with girlfriend Michele Ingold, an upper level event rider.
Hobson won the Trackside Leading Ftider Award for the 2000 Virginia Point-to-Point Association and, in addition, he was leading open rider, a title he held in 1998 as well.
"You're only as good as the horses you ride," said Hobson, who credits his mounts for his success. Some of his favorites have included St. Elias, which won at Saratoga for him, and Ray Moffett's Double Found, a durable campaigner trained by Dorothy M. Smithwick.
"I've won about 14 races on him," said Hobson. "He's the type of horse that's a pleasure to ride; he's been around and really knows his job.
