The combined effort — which will include a Virginia State trooper and a Sheriffs office deputy at one school, and a deputy and the sheriff or Maj. Chris Williams at the other — will use radar and offer "zero tolerance” for those in the school zones operating above the speed limit.
"Speeders will be stopped, and they will be issued tickets," said Sherertz. "Our focus will be enforcing the speed limits, not checking county stickers or defective equipment. Of course, if we stop someone and they have other violations we become aware of, they will be ticketed for those, too.”
The effort will begin the week of Sept. 25-29 and continue Oct. 2-6. After that time, Sherertz will evaluate the results, and determine if continuing enforcement
