Let me cite just two instances mentioned on television within the week: the extremely poisonous EDB contaminating many soils and water supplies, and the crops therefrom: the other, the dying Chesapeake, heir to the malpractice of the unaware farmers whose lands border the streams flowing into the Bay. streams which carry the phosphates and other pollutants washed by rain into those streams from the adjacent properties.
So the farmer today should be a bacteriologist, a chemist, a seer, a mechanic and an accountant, as well as an idealist and a practicing lover of nature. In other words quite a guy. and the county needs to do everything possible to produce and to celebrate that critically valuable person.
