“I’d go up to the mill there at Nethers for my father. He’d tie corn behind me on the horse and say to unload the corn and wait for the meal. I was real young then. And I liked going to the mill, but across the street in those years there was a store, gone now, and there’d always be men sitting there. Well, I’d heard so much of the moonshine business and the shooting back in the hollows behind Nethers that they scared me to death.
