“My belief on check points at night time is that they are one of the most dangerous situations a police officer can put himself into. You never know who is going to be behind that wheel—maybe an escaped convict with a sawed-off shotgun. I do believe in check points but not at night time when a police officer can’t see what he’s facing. However, I also feel that someone should be on duty all night long in Rappahannock County for the purpose of checking business places and homes that are not occupied daily.
