Pature management program

The Virginia Association of Biological Fanners will sponsor a workshop on Pasture Management at 1 p.m. March 1 at the Front Royal 4-H Educational Center. The program will feature Christopher Bird of Rappahannock County and Joel Salatin of Augusta County. Both operate 500-acre farms which produce grass-fed beef.

Topics will include large-scale composting, beef production without grains, pasture rotation, intensive grazing and integration of farm and woodlot management. Mr. Salatin will also show slides illustrating his poultry operation which utilizes portable pens and perennial forage.

Vegetable seminar

There will be a Northern Virginia Vegetable Seminar on Tuesday, February 25 at the Charles Monroe Vo-Tech Center in Leesburg, rhe seminar will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

Medical terminology course

A non-credit course in medical terminology is being offered by the Continuing Education Department ' "he School of Nursing and Health Professions of Shenandoah CoL „ and Conservatory.

The six-week class will begin Thursday, March 6, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and run through April 10.

Tuition for the class is $40. The School of Nursing and Health Professions is located in the John Kerr Building, Cameron and Cork Streets, in downtown Winchester.

Quilt show coming

On Saturday, April 5, frotalO a.m. to 4 p.m., the Catholic Women’s Council of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Main Street, Culpeper, will be having a Quilt Show. There will be demonstrations, displays, entry judging and sales. Anyone who is interested in participating, or renting a merchants’ area table, can obtain information by calling Kathy at 825-6380.

Admission is $2 for 12 years and older. There will be nursery service available at $.50 per hour, per child. Lunch will be sold from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. .

Black history program

On Saturday, February 22, at 7 p.m., a black history program will be sponsored by the NAACP of Culpeper in the high school auditorium. The guest speaker will be Attorney James Ghee, president of Virginia State Conference NAACP. The program will also include a host of gospel singers and youth participants. The public is invited to attend. Admission is $4 for adults, and $2 for children under 12
