Rappahannock citizens will get their chance to ask an expert what it’s like having an animal shelter as a neighbor. Mrs. Carol McHale, president of the Madison County Humane Society, will speak at a public forum Tuesday, February 25. The 7:30 p.m. meeting at the Courthouse is being presented by the Rappahannock Humane Society.
The location of the county shelter, once planned for the Scrabble School site, is on temporary hold following a stormy public hearing last December. The county is one of only two in Virginia to remain for six years out of compliance with state statutes mandating an animal shelter. A lawsuit against the county, brought by the Virginia Federation
