The reason for Quadravan’s success as a sire of jumpers becomes more clear when his distaff, or mother’s, side of the family is examined.
Quadravan’s dam Paravant is by Parnassus who was by War Admiral, a son of one of the most famous race horses of all time — Man O’War.
Man O’ War was also a great sire of jumpers, including the late Marion duPont Scott’s incredible steeplechaser Battleship who himself was a great sire of jumpers producing, among others, Montpelier’s Shipboard.
As a stallion, Mrs. Warren says Quadravan is faultless.
“His disposition is glowing — it’s unbelievable,” she says. “He’s very quiet and nice with his mares.”
A handsome sire, one of Quadravan’s qualities is that he stamps his get — that is, he imparts a lot of his qualities and looks to his children.
