Making a name for himself as a stallion hasn’t been easy for Quadravan, however. He hasn’t always been bred to the best mares. Many have been good jumpers or hunters of little-known breeding whom their owners wanted to breed in hopes of getting another good jumper.
“Everything he’s (Quadravan) done, he’s had to prove the hard way,” Mrs. Warren says. “He never got anything but the hard way. His horses have.had to jump hard to prove that he’s a good sire.”
Now that he’s started to consistently show he can produce winning jumpers, however, Quadravan is beginning to be noticed by owners, trainers and breeders of steeplechase and point-to-point horses nationwide.
If Quadravan’s record continues and he again tops the sires of winners list, he will undoubtedly make a name for himself in the history books of American steeplechasing.
