Casanova Hunt
As usual, barring any complications, Casanova will start off the year on the last weekend in February.
The hunt’s meet, facing its sec2 ond renewal at Dr. and Mrs. Robert Gaines’ Mt. Sterling Farm near Ca" sanoya, will feature a card of nine races beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.
First race is the 1 Ms-mile First Colony owner-rider hurdle race, first of nine races during the season to determine the owner-rider champion over hurdles. A three mile open timber race is second on the card, followed by an open turf race at six furlongs. Fourth race is the ladies timber race at 2Ms miles, followed by an open hurdle race, again at lMs miles.
The day’s sixth race will be the ■ Castygjova Cup, first of the season’s Seven Comers owner-rider timber , series races. This will be at 2 M2 miles over the hunt’s solid timber course. Following the owner-rider timber, fox hunters with the will to race take to the course for a 2M2 mile timber race for members of a recognized hunt. A 1 M2 mile maiden hurdle race and an open flat race over IM4 miles wrap up the day’s events.
Spectators also have a chance to participate in a competition of their own at Casanova with the Harden and Weaver tailgate competition. The most outstanding and appealing tailgate will win a bottle of champagne from the radio duo.
