Who knows how much is riding on this handshake? Only the two men who have just made a commitment. Later, documents will be drawn up, details noted, thy formal contract signed. That’s good business—and it’s the law. But right now, at this very moment, men who believe in each other’s integrity have an agreement both will honor.
Nowhere in high school or college have we heard of a course in Integrity. Does that mean that something so important to our economic system isn’t taught? Not in formal curricula.
Rather, it is taught in the home by parents who are people of integrity. Its teaching is reinforced at Church where religious beliefs mold the character of the children and adults. And its practice is encouraged daily in the marketplace by the.example of those whose fundamental convictions make their handshake a bond of truth.
