Ladies will do battle oyer the timber course in Loudoun s sixth race, the Gone Away. The seventh race is the third and final bowl, or cup, open timber race at the pointto-point meets, the William Corcoran Eustis Cup. For the last three years Dr. Joseph M. Rogers, joint master of the Loudoun Hunt, has dominated this race at his home meet with horses such as Private Gary and Constantine, both winners of the Virginia Gold Cup. Dr. Rogers undoubtedly will have a horse in the Eustis Cup this year, but, as in the past, it is likely to meet some tough competition.
The final race of the day at Oatlands is an open turf race over a lengthy two mile course.
Fairfax Hunt
The Fairfax Hunt will host the final Virginia point-to-point meet of 1986 at Belmont Plantation near Leesburg on Saturday, April 19.
Juniors begin the day’s races at 12:30 p.m. with horse and pony races on the flat.
A flat race for steeplechase and point-to-point horses begins the regular race meet at 1:30 p.m. This is followed by three hurdle races: a maiden hurdle, an open hurdle and the owner-rider hurdle race — all are at two miles and one furlong.
