Fair Hill, Md., the only meeting on the hunt circuit to offer parimutuel wagering, opens its two-day run on Memorial Day, and follows with the season’s finale on June 7 and the international jump jockey competition between English and American jocks.
As an overview of the spring sanctioned circuit, it appears to be the finest ever, as did 1985, which turned out to be deadly due to extensive hard going and a terrible attrition rate among the jumpers. Race chairmen and horsemen have joined hands in an overall effort to produce the best going and the best horses for the task at hand, and 1986 gives every appearance of being the best ever.
