Today, Quadravan is still with his “foster mother” as he stands at Mrs. Warren’s Bergen, near Markham.
“I raised him, and pulled him out of the mare,” Mrs. Warren says with a smile. “He’s always been with us. He’s the king of the roost here.”
Before going to stud, Quadravan ran on the flat for four years, from 1970 to 1974. In 12 of 38 starts he earned $20,904, which was a lot more in those days than it is now. Most of these races were at some of the better tracks in this country, such as Florida’s Hialeah and Gulfstream — he equalled the track record for a mile at the latter.
As a stallion, Quadravan has produced nine crops, a total of 42
