You note that other counties were out hustling to compete for teachers, but failed to note that we were too. You noted that we have dropped from 74th position in the State, a position that we had struggled to attain back while I served on the School Board. We fought budgets down, and gave salary increases of 10.4, 12.4 and 16.6 percent if memory serves me. I’m sure that we have lost some good teachers, as do the highest paying districts in the State, but I personally guarantee you that several we have lost since my involvement in 1980 were not our best at all.
