Att-Gr tne tno of hurdle—fjiccs Fairfax will have a trio of timber races: the ladies timber, the ownerrider timber and an open timber race — all at three miles.
On Sunday, April 20, Fairfax will host foxhunters at Belmont Plantation for its pair races. Adult optimum and fast time, and junior optimum time will be offered.
Old-fashioned races
Besides the point-to-point and hunter pace races, there will also be four old-fashioned point-to-point races in 1986.
Old-fashioned point-to-points are cross country races in which the rider must go around certain specified points but is otherwise free to choose his or her own route_making for some interesting and exciting races.
Last year the Warrenton, Rappahannock, Middleburg and Orange County hunts all offered old-fashioned point-to-points. This year Middleburg will not host an oldfashioned because the Sunday following their regular race meet is Easter Sunday.
Warrenton’s old-fashioned this year will be on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 1 p.m. Rappahannock’s race will be Sunday, Mar. 23 at 10 a.m. Rappahannock will be adding several new divisions to their race this year, including a heavy-weight division.
At press time the Orange County Hunt had not scheduled a date for its old-fashioned. This usually is held around the second weekend in April.
