Rappahannock Hunt
The races move up into the mountains for the season’s second meet hosted by the Rappahannock Hunt.
Owners will van their horses to Thornton Hill Farm for eight races on Saturday, March 1. Foxhunters start the day off with hunter pair races at 10:30 a.m. fpr fast and optimum time and junior pairs.
The first race of the day starts at noon with a six furlong flat race for horses that have been hunted. The second race is an open timber race of 2,/2-miles which will be followed by the ladies timber race at 2 miles.
The fourth race will be an open hurdle race over a l3/4-mile course, and then the youngsters will battle on the flat in junior horse and pony races. After the juniors, the ownerrider hurdle racers take to the course, followed by foxhunters for a 2 mile timber race.
The last horse race of the day is the Ben Venue owner-rider timber race at 2l/z miles.
