The organic farm products institutions developed by David Cole and associates might just provide one solution in the fight to preserve Rappahannock County’s rural character and way of life. . The evolution of Washington’s Sunnyside Farms as a force in fresh organic food production and supply, and his acquisition of a majority stake in Walnut Acres, an Internet-based processed organic foods distributor, provide a network of opportunities through which Rappahannock farmers might profit.
It appears that Cole’s vision blends a measure of his entrepreneurialism with a spirit aligned to the holistic perspective—hopefully, with the resources that he can call upon, that blend will prove fruitful to both Rappahannock and to the marketplace.
It is rare that any one individual can so vector forces for the good or to the detriment of a place or a significant number of people, but David Cole’s successes have placed with him the power and the opportunity to play a significant role in shaping Rappahannock’s destiny, and the responsibility to so in accordance with that which is right for the county.
