Local artist opens gallery

The Packing Shed Gallery located on Gay and Porter Streets in Washington will mark its grand opening with a special reception, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2 and 3 from 2 to 6 p.m. The gallery features the paintings and pottery of Sperryvillt: artist, June Jordan. Her recent summer paintings and new pottery will be on display for the first time in this show. For more information call 675-3410.

Wine festival scheduled

Sharp Rock Vineyards near Sperryville will host their second anrtual wine festival on Saturday, Oct. 2 from noon until 5 p.m. Enjoy bluegrass music, food and wine. $10 per person includes wineglass, tasting, a glass of wine and snacks. Homeschooling families to meet

Homeschooling families will be meeting at the Rappahannock Park pavilion on Friday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. to share curriculum ideas and to organize field trips and group opportunities for this school year. Bring your suggestions and exciting materials to display to help guide new home-schooling families who have questions. Auction planned at Amissville
