Age: 52 Residence: Aaron Mountain, Castleton Married, six children, one grandchild A) Taxes are too high. The budget is too big. We need to find the fat and trim it. Schools are a priority. We cannot afford to reduge quality. I would propose additional fund raising programs so taxes could be reduced while maintaining and improving quality. B) We cannot afford to go to a paid fire and rescue department in the county unless we are willing to see taxes go sky high. The current budget for the entire county is approximately $350,000. It would cost more than double that amount per station for a paid department. What we need is to provide incentives for volunteers so that our current system can work. I would support tax credits for volunteers.
