Philip, Merrill, Lily, and
Alex Strange live in the
quiet of Rappahannock where the skies are endless and the Blue Ridge mountain range fills their horizon. For ten years, Merrill and Philip tried to adjust their life style so that they could live in Rappahannock County. Many pieces came together to make their dream come true.
Philip was the chairman of the art department at Woodbury Forest. Quita and Isaac Parrish, Merrill’s parents who have owned property in Rappahannock since 1947, offered them 10 acres of their choice.
Merrill’s good friend from high school, Holly Darzen, had become an architect, but as yet had not designed a single family home. So Philip offered to exchange cabinet work for house drawings, and the project was underway.
