White said that the Kimzey splint is used initially for stabilization and transportation purposes on an injured horse, but that it can also be used while inducing anesthesia, again, to stabilize an injured limb.
The Kimzey welding company, based in Woodland, Cal., also makes specialty hydrolic surgery tables, of which the MDSEMC has two. “They both have a hoist to pull the horse onto the table,” White said. “One is for abdominal surgeiy.”
