OUT-OF-THEATJIC: The Cherry Tree and Hatchet was a tea room in the 1930’s located where the current parking lot of Trinity Episcopal Church is today. It was operated by Mrs. Meigs and her two daughters. In addition to afternoon tea, one
could have jt chicken dinner which included: soup or cocktail, fried chicken, potatoes, choice of two vegetables, salad, hot rolls, beverage and dessert for 75 cents. Club breakfast was 40 cents. For the afternoon tea, a cup was five cents while a pot of tea was ten cents. Sandwiches were priced from ten to twenty cents while toasting would cost an extra five cents. Ten cents would get any I dessert on the menu.
